Reaction to Gould

In his article, Gould explains about the history of classification of human beings focused on Blumenbach's theory.  Blumenbach made one of the ways to classify people by race, and he referred his teacher, Linnaeus's theory. He created it based on our beauty, and it led to increase racism after that. Also, he mentioned that  the entire characteristic that is considered as African one could be seen in different races. He thought that all people around the world have same origin. Gould insists that when people try to categorize something, there is subjective vies or biases in it.


In my opinion, I almost agree with Gould's idea that people classify something with their subjective views.  However, I think cannot avoid our subjective views and it is impossible to separate completely. So, who can decide our races?  Which way is appropriate? We have to rethink about the race and consider what we should treat ourselves.
